1995

  • Awarded SAF Post-graduate scholarship in Ophthalmology and Aviation Medicine

1996

  • Residency in NUH, TTSH and SNEC

1998

  • Obtained Diploma in Aviation Medicine and Barbara Harrison Trophy for best overseas student

2000

  • Obtained FRCS and MMed(S’pore) in Ophthalmology, promoted to Registrar

2003

  • Promoted to Lieutenant Colonel

2006

  • Fellowship in Cornea and Refractive Surgery, University of British Columbia Eye Care Centre. Obtained FAMS in Ophthalmology. Promoted to Associate Consultant

2007-2009

  • Appointed SAF Consultant in Ophthalmology and Aviation Medicine, Head SAF Vision Performance Centre, Head RSAF Aeromedical Centre, Aviation Medicine

2010

  • Promoted to Senior Lieutenant Colonel

2011

  • National Day Commendation Medal (Military)

2013

  • Transitioned to Private Practice

2024

  • Joined Jerry Tan Eye Surgery and established Aberdeen Eye Surgery

  • Graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS)

1982-1983

  • National Service
    Completed National Service as a Medical Officer in the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF)s

1983

  • Commenced medical training at Singapore General Hospital (SGH) and Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH)

1986

  • Completed the final year of ophthalmic residency at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London, under a Singapore government scholarship

  • Obtained the FRCS qualification

1987

  • Appointed Registrar at Singapore General Hospital (SGH)

1990

  • Completed a Fellowship in Cornea and External Eye Disease at California Pacific Medical Center, Pacific Presbyterian Hospital

1991

  • Promoted to Senior Registrar (Associate Consultant) at Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH)

1994

  • Appointed Consultant at Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH)

1995-1996

  • Entered private practice and established Jerry Tan Eye Surgery
