Dr Gerard Nah is a Senior Consultant Eye Surgeon trained in the sub-specialty of Cornea, Refractive Surgery and External Diseases. A medical graduate from the University of Aberdeen in the United Kingdom, he underwent and completed his training as an eye surgeon in Singapore under the Singapore Armed Forces Postgraduate Scholarship (Medical) programme. He then went on to train as a clinical fellow at the University of British Columbia under Professor Simon Holland at the Eye Care Centre, Vancouver, Canada. During his fellowship, he was also tutored by Dr Steve Schallhorn, the founder of Warfighter Refractive Surgery Programme in the US Navy.

Upon his return, Dr Nah founded the SAF Vision Performance Centre as its head and established Singapore’s own Military Corneal Refractive Surgery programmes, as such, he was a designated ophthalmologist to Singapore’s elite. As an active member of the international community of military ophthalmology, he has been the international-chair of the Annual International Military Refractive Surgery Symposium from its inception in 2007 to 2012.

In addition to Ophthalmology, Dr Nah is also trained in Aviation Medicine, a subspecialty of Occupational Medicine having earned his Diploma in Aviation Medicine from the Royal College of Physicians of London. He served in the Republic of Singapore Air Force for close to 20 years and was also the head of the RSAF Aeromedical Centre.
