Aviation Medicine and Occupational Screening
Pilot & Aircrew screening
Here at Aberdeen Eye Surgery, we conduct screening examinations for the visual function and eyes of candidates for the purpose of licensing or suitability assessment to work as pilots or aircrew according to the protocol of the aviation authority or employer of the applicant. As Dr Nah is also a Senior Consultant in Aviation Medicine, he also performs fitness-to-work/train assessments for aircrew with other medical issues.
Lasers workers screening
We also perform examinations to check the visual function and eyes of candidates for suitability to work with lasers as per NEA protocol.
Fitness to drive
Dr Nah also screens the visual function and eyes of local drivers for suitability to drive as per guidelines endorsed by the traffic police.
Some points to note before eye screening:
Please do not drive and use sunglasses as well as a hat on the day of your screening examination as we will be dilating your pupils and you may experience glare in bright sunlight. You may also find it hard to read for a few hours when the pupils are dilated and may not be able to do work involving near vision. Be assured that your pupils as well as your vision will revert to their natural state 4 to 6 hours later.
